2,569 Cambodian monks march to demand permanent ceasefire

2,569 Buddhist leaders and monks in Cambodia marched in Phnom Penh to call for peace, a permanent ceasefire and for Thailand to release 18 detained Cambodian soldiers.
On August 10, 2025, 2,569 monks, led by various religious leaders, including the Patriarch of the Thammayut and Mahanikaya sects, marched from Wat Phnom in Phnom Penh to the Independence Monument in the heart of the Cambodian capital, a distance of 3 kilometers.
